Devastated and angry, Emily will stop at nothing to get Aurelius home--if she can only find him. On her new adventure, she will meet Liza, the witch doctor, and just in the nick of time--but is it Liza of the past or Liza of the future? Emily will also discover a secret that will change the Proctors forever. Meanwhile Aurelius investigates the Underground, the true Area 51 operated by the military and a strange society. He will cross paths with archrival enemy and future ally Syrius, who will save the day more than once throughout the Aurora Conspiracy saga. While he's there he is also introduced to Nikola Tesla, who vows to get him home. Emily will meet Syrius and discover he knows Aurelius and where the Underground is. When she decides to follow him, she finds herself in the kind of trouble she never could have imagined, with a noose around her neck. Will she make it out alive, and what does President McKinley have to do with it? Conflict Rising is the second story from the Aurora Conspiracy trilogy prequel series.
Members Reviews:
Five Star Conflict
This second book in the series starts out immediately following on from the first, Aurelius has just been taken and Emily is trying to follow. Once again written entirely in the third person the author pulls it off again. And you are hooked from the first page until the last.
Emily as a character is growing becoming more sure of herself and sets out to find Aurelius after she doesn't get a response from President McKinley. On the journey she meets Liza or Nanny who seems to know more than she lets on about the visitors from other space and time and along the way Emily also finds out more about herself.
Aurelius meanwhile has met Syrius who should be an enemy yet become a friend as well as Nikolai Tesla, it's wonderful how the historic figures are woven into the tale as if it's entirely what happened including the meeting with President McKinley which happens at just the right time for Emily.
Yet once again Emily and Aurelius take centre stage and they hold it well, the judge and his wife are once again stalwarts in the story.
Again we are left on a cliffhanger as we wonder if Emily and Aurelius will allowed to be together one leader has okayed it but what about the other.
Off to book three now.
Attention: This second book in the series. This series should be read in order to follow the story. It immediately starts where the first book as left off. With that saidâ
Aurelius has just been taking into custody and Emily tries her best to follow. has just been taken and Emily is trying to follow. Watching her quickly change from a girl to a woman she stands her ground when she received no word back from President Mckinley. Along the way she meets Liza. Liza knows much more about the visitors and Emilyâs sudden changes in her health.
Aurelius meets a companion while he is away. Syrius should be an enemy but they quickly become friends. He also meets Nikolai Tesla. He is one of the fun historical tie-ins that are woven into the stories core. Itâs funny how when you throw in real historical tidbits it makes the story so much more intriguing.
You are left with a little surprise and hang on until the next book.
