As we start the third chapter of Peter's letter, we get back to his main point in writing to the church. These false teachers were spreading deception and it was all around a topic that Peter thought deserved great attention. This letter was to remind the church of what they already knew and why they needed to remember.

The false teachers Peter is warning about, had some sort of spiritual experience with the true message of Jesus but made the choice to go back to their old life and to take others with them. Their stories serve as an example and warning as to why we need more than an experience.
