Welcome to Connect FCS Ed, thank you so much for listening. I'm your host Barbara Scully. Today I'm ging to be talking about being culturally responsive and what that means, so I picked up a culturally responsive teaching from 1994, so it might be a little old, but it is still as relevant today as it was back 20 plus years ago. So this is what they have to say. Culture is central to learning, it plays a role not only in communicating and receiving information, but also in shaping the thinking process of groups and individuals, a pedagogy that acknowledges responds to and celebrates fundamental cultures offers full equitable access to education for students from all cultures, culturally responsive teaching is a pedagogy that recognizes the importance of including students cultural references in all aspects of learning. So, let's get started and hone in on communication of high expectations and student-centered instruction.
