Ava Keebler, a 10-year-old 5th grader at Bennetts Valley Elementary School, teamed up with one of her teachers and friends to donate a total of 31 inches of hair for kids with hair loss. She personally donated 11 inches of hair. Ava says she has been inspired to donate her hair and has wanted to do it since she was very young. She says she'll try to do it again once her hair grows longer again!

Ava Keebler was one of three people at the Bennetts Valley Elementary School that had donated hair to "Children with hair loss" during an assembly on September 14th during school. Ava had donated 11 inches during this event. Ava's mom is the PTO president and helped organize this event and her daughter wanted to help children with a wig who needs one. Thank you Ava and to the others who participated.

The DuBois Continuum of Care Community (including the DuBois Nursing Home) will host a "Show Your Love" fundraiser on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at Luigi's Villa.

Run or Walk for Someone Special 2021 in Sykesville this past weekend raised around $66,000! Part of those donations came from 2020, when the race had been cancelled. Listen to the thank you message from Pat Mowrey, event organizer.

Trent started his small business with Kids in Business in 2018. He calls it Trents Bee-lious. He is now 14 years old and is booked solid at fairs, Craft and vendor shows all over and almost every weekend.

His next event is on Saturday, September 25th for Relay for Life Car Cruise in.

He is saving up for a food truck so he can go more places. He enjoys working for himself and hopes someday he can get the right guidance in becoming a young entrepreneur.

Pam Streich, executive director of Workforce Solutions of North Central PA, and Melissa Varischetti from FindAJobPA.com talk about how to find and keep good employees in what has been a difficult hiring situation for many businesses recently.

Brockway Superintendent Jeff Vizza highlighted the schools standardized test scores for the previous years, many of which were better than 2018-2019 state averages. He said that the scores are just one of the reasons why it is important for Brockway students to be in school for 180 days.
