Around 50 residents of the Brockway area gathered to celebrate diversity Friday night.

The event was primarily organized by Jackie and Jo Stoneberg, getting support from local families and Project Love. The event organizers got support from Brockway Mayor Bill Hrinya, the borough council, and businesses in Brockway.

After the candlelight vigil, the group sang “This Little Light of Mine” and wrapped up the event. Stoneberg said that she was happy with the way the event turned out.

The event was designed to be family-friendly and not a march. People lined Main Street with signs, and organizers had activities for children, including coloring books and sidewalk chalk.

The event involved speakers, singing, some chanting, and a candlelight vigil at the end.

The event had speeches from Nikki Clark, Suzane Buttery, and Rev, Christopher McCloskey, who said that the message of justice is one that is found in the Bible.

Cars and Coffee is an early morning car hangout, from 8 until 11 a.m. Sunday, June 28 in the DuBois Middle School parking lot.

This event is a lot like a cruise-in, but you can bring any vehicle you’re proud of, no matter how far into the project you are! Free to attend, but there will be coffee and doughnuts/muffins for sale.

All proceeds go towards the First Class Children's Foundation, which provides donations to local schools for supplies they need.

A week from now, a local family will get to move in to a beautiful new home in Grampian through Habitat for Humanity.

The house was built over the course of about a year by volunteers and the new homeowners themselves on a donated piece of property along First Street in Grampian that used to have a dilapidated house.

The Spencer family (a family of four with a young boy and girl, 7 and 9 years old) will be moving from their current apartment in Curwensville to the new home with three bedrooms and one bath.

A new Speaker of the House has been chosen for Pennsylvania's House of representatives because the current Speaker, Rep. Mike Turzai, is stepping down.

Rep. Bryan Cutler, a Republican serving the Lancaster County area, was elected by the House as the new Speaker.

After the decision was made, he spoke about the House's top priorities for this year.

Before this, Cutler had served as the House Majority Leader for nearly the past two years.

It's called the Relatives as Parents Program (RAPP), and they meet at Children’s Aid Society in Clearfield on the third Monday of each month, 6 to 8 p.m. Light dinner is provided, and child care is available.
