Dr. Peter Nitschke is the Global Director for Community Partnerships at Plastic Bank, where he works with communities to transform plastic waste into value. His work includes leading the Community Partnership Program, which engages schools and faith communities in Brazil, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Haiti to reduce ocean plastic through recycling and behavioral change. Before joining Plastic Bank, Peter spent 20 years in the Philippines working in leadership positions for various NGOs and academic institutions. He later founded Plastic Bank's thriving branch in the country before returning to his native Germany in 2018. Peter has extensive experience in urban transformation, gained from living for eight years in an urban poor community in Manila. He immersed himself in the community's culture and language, mobilizing their capacity for transformation and upliftment.
