Alfonso Johnson is one of those who took advantage of the program and worked his way up from a servicer to a manager. He has been able to get off of public aid, and has bought a home. He has also completed a bachelors degree and is planning on obtaining an MBA.

Bill speaks with Richard Wooten, a recently retired Chicago police officer. He discusses his career policing in the Englewood neighborhood and what he learned from it. He talks about what it is like being in confrontational situations, as rare as they are in the day to day job. He goes over different tools available to the police such as tasers, bean bag guns, body cameras, and audio recording devices. He also gives advise to police officers.

Why? Because many of us are in such a hurry, we don’t bother to go to the garage or basement and drag out a ladder. Instead, we go for a chair or stool, things not meant to do the job safely, whether it’s hanging decorations or adjusting lights. Also, in the kitchen, he says use the right tool for the right job. He says many people cutting themselves while using a paring knife to separate frozen foods and even trying to remove pits from avocados.
