Jesus meets us where we are, He knows who we are, but He desires to not leave us as we are.

The focus must be always on Jesus. Jesus must increase because He is distinguished above all others.

As Messiah, Jesus would undergo temptation. Jesus is in the wilderness not due to sin but out of obedience to God.

In His baptism Jesus is identifying with us and being identified for us. Jesus identifies with us in our sin that we may be identified with Him in righteousness.
