John D'earth is Jazz trumpeter and composer. He was born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1950. He studied, as a teenager, with saxophonist Boots Mussulli, (Stan Kenton, Charlie Ventura, Teddy Wilson) with John Coffey, (principal trombonist in the Boston Symphony) and arranging with Thad Jones. He attended Harvard University and, later, moved to New York City where he studied with Carmine Caruso, Vince Penzarella and Richie Beirach.

Sally Rhine Feather PhD., a retired clinical psychologist, traces her lifelong interest in parapsychology to growing up as the daughter of JB and Louisa E. Rhine, founders of modern parapsychology. She worked as a research assistant at the Duke Parapsychology Lab before and after earning a doctorate in experimental psychology from Duke University.
After retirement Dr. Feather returned to work at the Rhine Research Center including several years as Executive Director. She co-authored a popular book featuring reports of ESP experiences (The Gift, 2005) and in 2010 received the Outstanding Career Award from the Parapsychology Association

Susan Freeman has worked at the Rhine for the last 8 years as Program Director and Public Relations. She is also involved in the archiving of the historic writings, articles and materials collected over the last 85 years and works closely with Dr. Feather in the qualitative analysis of the spontaneous reports both historic and current that come to the Rhine.

Jim B. Tucker, M.D. is Bonner-Lowry Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia. Dr. Tucker obtained his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He then completed training in psychiatry and child psychiatry at the University of Virginia. After a stint in private practice, he returned to UVA in 2000. He served as the medical director of the UVA Child and Family Psychiatry Clinic for nine years, and he is currently the director of the UVA Division of Perceptual Studies, where he is continuing the work of Ian Stevenson on children who report memories of previous lives. He is the author of two books on the topic that together have been translated into twenty languages, Life Before Life: A Scientific Investigation of Children’s Memories of Previous Lives and Return to Life: Extraordinary Cases of Children Who Remember Past Lives.

Andrew Weil was born in Philadelphia in 1942, received an A.B. degree in biology (botany) from Harvard in 1964 and an M.D. from Harvard Medical School in 1968. After completing a medical internship at Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco, he worked a year with the National Institute of Mental Health, then wrote his first book, The Natural Mind. From 1971-75, as a Fellow of the Institute of Current World Affairs, Dr. Weil traveled widely in North and South America and Africa collecting information on drug use in other cultures, medicinal plants, and alternative methods of treating disease. From 1971-84 he was on the research staff of the Harvard Botanical Museum and conducted investigations of medicinal and psychoactive plants.

Dr. Weil is the founder and Director of the University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, where he also holds the Lovell-Jones Endowed Chair in Integrative Rheumatology and is Clinical Professor of Medicine and Professor of Public Health. The Center is the leading effort in the world to develop a comprehensive curriculum in integrative medicine. Graduates serve as directors of integrative medicine programs throughout the United States. Through its Fellowship and Integrative Medicine in Residency curricula, the Center is now training doctors and nurse practitioners around the world.

Mary Kay Landon received her PhD in East-West Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. After pursuing a curriculum that included Jungian psychology and Chinese history and philosophy, she developed a dissertation that introduced a systematic method of studying meaningful coincidence. “On Receiving Unexpected Money: A Theoretical and Empirical Investigation of Anomalous Mind–Matter Interactions Within Archetypal Fields” reported on the results of a randomized controlled experiment that sought to determine if statistically discernible patterns of coincidences would occur within the context of an experiment and, if so, whether they occurred more frequently to participants performing particular actions and/or possessing particular psychological attributes. Some of her findings were subsequently published in the December 2011 edition of Psychiatric Annals, edited by Bernard D. Beitman, MD, that addressed Coincidence Studies.

Over a decade before arriving at the Institute, Mary Kay became a regular practitioner of the I Ching, humanity’s oldest oracle, and regularly consulted the book on matters relating to her small business, relationships, and other aspects of life. Upon entering the Institute, she embarked on a more formal study of this ancient Chinese oracle with noted Taiwanese scholar and author Dr. Yi Wu. Under his guidance, she not only gained an essential Chinese perspective on the book, but also came to appreciate how, as the pre-eminent book among the six Confucian Classics, the I Ching influenced the development of various Chinese philosophical systems, including Taoism, Confucianism, and the Yin-Yang School.

Since that time, she has presented lectures on the I Ching in various forums and conducted readings for many friends and clients on the topics of business, finance, careers, relationships, and health. Last year she launched her own web site devoted to the I Ching, DecisionPointIChing.com, and blogs periodically on how the wisdom of the I Ching can be elicited to comment on national politics and predict election results.

Dr. Jim Carpenter is both a clinical psychologist and a research parapsychologist. He is a Diplomate in Clinical Psychology, ABPP, and a Fellow in the American Academy of Clinical Psychology, and is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.
