Well thought out extremely entertaining...

Conner Slate has just been released from prison. He has been granted a pardon by Chief Justice Josiah Willingworth & sworn in as a special agent of the court. Seems the Territorial Governor demands the backlog of wanted men be eliminated in preparation for statehood. Slate is not required to bring them in alive...just make them dead...use his own judgment. If you are wanted by the law, or you should have been wanted then your justice is to be delivered in cold lead by Conner Slate. There isn't a better man for the job but Slate might just have more than he can handle in Billings Brook.

Thomas Holden & Gregory Ballard have the town in a stranglehold. They are on opposite sides but together they are demanding the business owners & towns people pay for protection & the right to operate their stores & shops. They don't pay, they have no customers & both Holden & Ballard have men who make sure the privilege of drawing their next breath is paid for no matter what.

How can you pack this much action & excitement into 106 pages...it's a mystery. This is a very well thought out story that acts as a bonding agent between the reader & the main character. The only fault I found was there were some words & phrases that I would associate more with today than the 1800's. Other than that it was what I considered a perfect example of an excellent western that will go into my "keeper" file. It's cleanly written & I would highly recommend to any western reader.

Anyone know where book #2 for this series is? I can find #3 but not the second one.

He used quite a few modern applications in his narration. We know that people didn't speak that way back then.

Excellent read

This book had it all, solid unfolding plot with unexpected twist and turns, lots of action. Hero was a believable character and little things like the towns poor water quality. Just couldn't put it down.

I have enjoyed the book. The author have technically taken care of the book and the plot was well planned and played out.

Well written with just enough mystery to make it very interesting I hope to see more books like this. In the future
