Episode 28: When Motherhood Feels Like a Job (Move from Mental Load to Present Parenting)
Podcast: Conquer Mom Stress
Host: Jill Gockel
Being a mom, have you ever wondered how you can you love your kids at home so deeply yet still find motherhood heavy, stressed, and exhausting?
In this episode, Jill speaks directly to the mom carrying invisible mental load, constant emotional labour, and endless pressure of all the things as a mother. Even when you’re getting things done and telling yourself “I can do all the things," stress, mom guilt, and self comparison can quietly steal joy and leave you feeling like an exhausted mom battling mom burnout (aka depleted mother syndrome).
Why chronic stress in motherhood makes it hard to feel being happy or peaceful
How mom stress and the constant activity of a mom’s brain disconnect you from presence
The difference between performance-based parenting and present parenting
Why joyful connection—not productivity—raises happy children
How encouraging Bible verses and mom Bible verses offer words of encouragement and reveal how to be happy
Practical ways to reduce stress, find joy, and feel joy again as a mom
What it really means to be a good mom and how to be a good mom without carrying everything alone
Jill gently reminds mothers that nothing is “wrong” with you. The heaviness of mom stress isn’t failure—it’s a signal that motherhood is being carried in performance mode instead of relationship.
Through Scripture and real-life reflection, this episode reveals that joy is found in presence—with God and with your children. When connection replaces pressure, peace returns, your nervous system calms, and you begin to enjoy motherhood again.
You don’t need to prove you can do all the things to be happy.
You don’t have to live buried under stress.
And you are not failing as a mother.
You are invited to slow down, reconnect, and rediscover the joy God placed inside this season of motherhood—one present, love-filled moment at a time.
Motherhood isn’t about doing it all — it’s about finding joy in the moments that matter most. Together, we’re going to conquer mom stress, one small step at a time.

Episode 27: Fix Child Behavior Problems By Parenting With Love
Podcast: Conquer Mom Stress
Host: Jill Gockel
Have you ever wondered why you don’t feel happy as a mom—even when you’re being patient, doing your best, and holding everything together?
In this episode, Jill Gockel speaks to the exhausted mom, tired mom, and overwhelmed mother who feels stuck in constant correction mode. If you’ve ever thought I need help with my child’s behaviour, struggled with child behavior problems, or worried that showing joy means letting things slide, this conversation will completely reframe how you see parenting.
Learn how mom stress, chronic stress, and emotional tension shape a child’s nervous system and directly influence child behavior, including moments like 3 year old behavior is out of control. When moms lead with seriousness instead of connection, kids don’t feel guided—they feel managed. Over time, this drains joy, patience, and energy, leaving moms feeling like a failure as a mom.
In this episode, you’ll learn:
Why joy is essential for calm parenting and happy children
How nonverbal stress affects child behavior and emotional safety
Why being a calm mom helps children cooperate more naturally
How to parent with love while still holding firm boundaries
Encouraging Bible verses and mom Bible verses that restore joy
How to reduce stress without becoming permissive
Why joy is the foundation for raising a happy child
How to be a nicer mom without losing authority
Practical mom tips for patience with kids and calm correction
Using Scripture, neuroscience, and real-life motherhood moments, Jill shows how joy is not a reward for good behavior—it’s the environment where good behavior grows. When moms soften their presence, invite God into discipline, and release emotional tension, they become a joyful mom who can truly enjoy motherhood.
This episode offers words of encouragement for every mom who wants to be a good mom, love parenting, and learn how to be happy, how to be happy as a mom, and how to raise a happy child—even on hard days.
💛 Your joy is not the enemy of discipline.
💛 Your joy is a gift to your children.
💛 You were never meant to parent without it.
If this episode helped you feel hope again, share it with another mom who’s navigating stress, motherhood, and the desire to find joy again.

Have you ever believed that if you could just stick to a routine, life would feel easier—only to quit and spiral into self criticism?
In this episode, Jill Gockel speaks directly to the exhausted mom who feels stuck between wanting structure and feeling overwhelmed by stress, mom guilt, and the mental load of being a mom. If you’re trying to juggle all the things, get things done, set goals, and still find joy—but keep falling back into old habits—this conversation will feel like a deep exhale.
Find out why failing to follow a daily routine isn’t a motivation problem or a character flaw. It’s how the brain responds to pressure, anxiety and stress, and perceived overload. When moms are already stretched thin, routines can actually increase mom stress—triggering self sabotage, negative self talk, and the belief that you feel like a failure as a mom.
In this episode, you’ll learn:
Why routines often increase anxiety and stress instead of providing stress relief
How self sabotage is your brain seeking safety, not failure
Why old habits die hard
How chronic stress fuels mom burnout and mom guilt
Why perfectionism and doing it all keeps moms stuck
How to create a routine aligned with your values, not pressure
Why small habits matter more than big new year resolutions
How enjoying the process provides stress relief and helps routines stick
Why routines aren’t a self worth test but nervous system support
Jill also shares practical mom tips for building routines that reduce anxiety, support getting things done, and help you show up as a calmer, more present good mom. You’ll learn how purpose—not willpower—is the key to sticking to a routine, and how grace-filled consistency helps moms stop cycling through stress and burnout.
This episode offers words of encouragement for any mom wondering how to be a good mom while managing mom stress, self criticism, and daily pressure.
💛 You don’t need to prove yourself.
💛 You don’t need to do it all.
💛 You are already a good mom, right now.

What if your self value whiling being a mom didn’t depend on how much you got done today?
In this episode of Conquer Mom Stress, Jill Gockel gently challenges the belief so many moms carry—that finding your worth comes from your productivity, performance, and how well you “hold it all together.” If you’re feeling like a failure as a mom on days when the house is messy, the kids are melting down, or your to-do list goes untouched, this episode is for you.
Many moms unknowingly live under a constant performance-based scorecard—a self worth test of how productive, patient, or put-together you were that day. This way of living quietly fuels stress, mom guilt, and mom burnout, especially for an exhausted mom with kids at home and unpredictable days.
Through Scripture and lived experience, this episode redefines self worth meaning that your value is not something that is earned. It will help you to know your worth bible verses like the Prodigal Son remind you of your identity in Christ. Jill explains the importance of self worth rooted not in what you do—but in whose you are.
You’ll learn:
Why tying self esteem to productivity increases mom stress and burnout
How performance-based worth keeps moms stuck in pressure comparing yourself to others
What it truly means for knowing your worth as a woman and as a mother
Why anchoring your identity in God transforms how to be happy as a mom
The reason being a good mom has nothing to do with perfection—and everything to do with love
This episode offers relief for the mom who feels like she has to be everything for everyone, all the time. It invites you to step off the invisible scoreboard, stop striving to prove yourself so you dont compare yourself to others.
You’ll also learn practical mom tips for how to get things done and how to be productive without attaching your identity to performance.
If you’re longing to know how to build self worth and how to stop comparing yourself to others so you can gain deeper peace and joy as a mom, this conversation will help you rest in God's truth instead of striving to be perfect.
💛 You don’t have to earn your value.
💛 You don’t have to prove you’re enough.
💛 You are already deeply loved—and from that place, joy can grow again.
If this message encouraged you, share it with another mom who's wondering how to know your self worth so she can recognize she is already worthy, right now.

Hi! I’m Jill. :) A wife, mom of 5, and recovering control freak… otherwise known as a perfectionist. For years I struggled with burnout, mom guilt, and feeling like a failure as a mom. Overwhelm and constant stress made it feel like the weight of the world rested on my shoulders alone, sucking the joy out of motherhood.
I finally realized that if I wanted to raise happy children and enjoy motherhood, I needed to focus on my own emotional health and mindset first. And from there, my kids would follow.
So I created a plan. One that put God first, seeking His wisdom instead of Google’s, building a relationship with Him instead social media. And a crazy thing happened. As my mind got into alignment with God, my kids’ attitudes completely changed. The house got cleaner. My patience grew. And I found myself smiling again and setting goals for my life as a mom.
If you’re ready to stop worrying constantly about your kids, the house, and what you’re doing wrong so you can finally find peace, balance, and joy in daily life as a mom, this podcast is for you.
So grab your warm cup of tea and your fuzzy blanket. It’s time to dive in!
