Gwyneth and Chris brought us "conscious uncoupling." Jen and Allison are bringing you "conscious coparenting." We've realized that a lot of our conversations about parenting apply to ALL family situations, not just ones where there has been a divorce. And coparenting is definitely one of them! Regardless of relationship status, you set yourself up for parenting success when you stop making assumptions, quit expecting your coparent to read your mind, and have thoughtful, conscious discussions about your parenting plan. The truth is, ALL of us with kids are coparenting. We just tend to use that word exclusively in situations where there's been a divorce. What if we changed that thinking? What if we decided we all needed a parenting plan, not just people standing in front of a judge? And if we were more intentional about our parenting, would that result in less of us in standing in front of that judge in the first place? We discuss how marriages change once children are part of the equation, how to create more balanced and equitable parenting regardless of gender, and the importance of self-care and boundaries. Lastly, we look at the creation of 'parenting pillars' like safety, right, and compassion, and how these can guide our decisions and model values for our children. Let's rewrite the rules of co-parenting together!
