  • Episode 6 - Neuroplasticity of the Brain

In this continuation of the How to Change Your Mind series, Sarah and Rishi discuss neuroplasticity--the ability of the brain to change or adapt in response to new experiences. Our brains are always changing but it is possible to be intentional about the direction of that change. Rishi goes into detail about the various modern modalities for enhancing brain plasticity like EMDR, TMS, ketamine and hypnotherapy to address/treat past traumas. He also breaks down the various components of a ketamine journey. Sarah mentions how behavior is the biggest driver of change. This episode also touches on Carl Jung, why it's important to live in the present and how shadow work can help integrate all of our various emotional parts.

  • Episode 5 - Joseph Campbell and the Hero's Journey

Joseph Campbell was an influential American author and professor of literature who focused on comparative religion and mythology. In his seminal work, The Hero with a Thousand Faces (1949), Campbell discussed the journey of an archetypal hero ('the hero's journey'), alluded to in mythologies around the world. He is also the originator of the famous phrase "Follow your bliss!" In this episode, Sarah and Rishi break down the hero's journey, discuss the value of myths in modern life, and why old myths need to be updated. In a world that struggles to understand the intangible and what emanates from our subconcious, the value of Joseph's work cannot be underestimated. Enjoy!

  • Episode 4 - 1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture with Rocky Roggio

What if the word “homosexual” was never meant to be in the BIble?

In this episode, Sarah sits down with director Sharon “Rocky” Roggio to discuss her award-winning documentary 1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture. At the center of this film is Roggio’s complicated relationship with her father, a conservative pastor who refuses to accept that his daughter is gay. Their relationship takes a new twist when they both meet Kathy Baldock, a researcher who posits that the original Greek words in the so-called “clobber verses” of the Bible were most likely taken out of context. Baldock agrees to join Roggio and a team of filmmakers in an independent investigation that leads them to the library at Yale University, where the original translation committee archives still exist. What they discover there surpasses all of their expectations. Currently sweeping awards at major film festivals everywhere, 1946 is positioned to make an unparalleled commercial and cultural impact. This movie, and the episode we have about it at Conscious Quest, are not to be missed!
