Hello Everyone, I am Sneha Marappa your host and you are listening to the first episode of Honest stories WITHER. It is in the name itself, this Podcast is all about stories. So now for this story to start, let’s rewind a bit! Growing up, I was a curious kid. I always would raise questions, about everything I saw; I always wondered why some people are rich and some are not, why some are business owners and some are not, why does the moon follow me wherever I go! Of ofcourse, didn’t find solid answers then!. I was just told that's how it is!
I wanna iterate a little more on how I developed this curiosity.
I was brought up in one of the vulnerable localities of Bengaluru, but for me, it was always the most charming area and still is! I was exposed to different sets of people, culturally, economically, religiously! That place was the main reason for me to develop my curiosity. I was surrounded by people living in big houses and small houses.
As I said, it was a vulnerable locality where I was living so I saw religious riots and curfews at a younger age. The roads would go eerie except for police siren here and there. I and my friends would peep in from the compound wall to see what’s happening on the road and the Silence would fade away as smoothly as it arrived.
And ofcourse as a kid, it was too difficult for me to comprehend what was happening.
On the other hand, I was also raised in a religious family so visiting temples was a daily ritual with my mother. I saw beggars outside the temple and inside the temple, we were offering dry fruits and pulses to god, pouring litres of milk, curd and honey. And I would wonder, doesn't God want us to give all these to beggers who are sitting outside?
Who decides all these? The religion, the god we have to worship, the rituals performed, the celebrations, the festivals! Why, why there is so much difference and yet again we are the same humans!
If you are here and listening to this episode of the Podcast, I am sure you could relate to every question here! I have no intentions to get religious here! I am just trying to explain how all these questions kept bothering me all through my childhood. As it was not answered then, it stayed in my Subconscious and I started to look for the answers when I was an adult!
Did I find my answers? Well, I did and I am still finding it! How did I find them and what happened after I found them?
Well, that's what this whole Podcast is about! I will see you all on the next episode with probably more questions, or more answers! Who knows!
