In 2022, K-pop singer AleXa made history by becoming the first female solo artist from South Korea to participate in the American Song Contest, representing her home state of Oklahoma. Creating a sequel to the Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was no small feat. However, the directorial trio of Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K.Thompson created a synergy that is already having audiences beg for more. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is simply the most visually stunning and action-packed superhero film of the year -- if not in years -- while also managing to create an intense story with emotional depth. Nate Bargatze has been a respected standup comedian for years, but he's never had a year like 2023 -- which is why Consequence is naming him our Comedian of the Year. With his relatable, clean humor mining everyday situations for laugh, Bargatze broke records with both his new Amazon Prime Video special Hello World and his "Be Funny Tour," which smashed attendance records at Bridgestone Arena in his Nashville hometown. Feels Good!, Geese’s 3D Country, Depeche Mode’s Memento Mori, the self-titled debut from Graham Coxon and Rose Elinor Dougall’s The WAEVE, and Blur’s first album in eight years, The Ballad of Darren. Not only that, he worked with breakout newcomers The Last Dinner Party and Fat Dog.

In 2023, Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, and Rami Jaffee pushed the power of rock to its absolute limit -- they had to. After facing new levels of hardship, Foo Fighters would have been fully justified in unplugging their amps and calling it a career. No one could have blamed them, but how un-Foo of a decision that would have been.
