At the annual Budget time, we learn how the federal government intends to spend our taxes, and we observe their cynical process of smoke and mirrors as they try to confuse us while giving with one hand and taking with the other. Consequences and outcomes for all.

Phil talks us through the dramatic series of events occurring in Hawaii as a consequence of the current volcanic activity (locally referred to as ‘Pele’ – Volcano Goddess), and his personal experiences in San Francisco’s tremors.

We celebrate the growth of a gay radio station in Nepal as they seek more presenters and content, while the nearby mysterious country of Myanmar celebrates their gay choir successfully performing in public, in an act of education and familiarisation for their general population.

We compare and contrast when New Zealand became a British colony – with the Waitangi Treaty registering inter alia the status, responsibilities and role of the Maori populations; and meanwhile in Australia, sadly we have reached nationhood without achieving such a treaty to acknowledge and respect our indigenous peoples.

We report on the social scene with gay clubs closing in Vancouver & a new club opening in London, San Francisco declaring the Gay & Leather cultural district and a cute tale about the gay scene in Melbourne from the past, told by Jan Hillier (gay icon & local promoter, of Pokey’s fame) recorded at JOY before her death on 12/5/2001.
