Ep. 229 — Hebrews and Losing Salvation

Justin sits down with Ryan Vincent and Drew Moss to tackle some of the biggest questions in Hebrews and Isaiah. Can Christians drift away from faith—or even lose salvation? What does Hebrews mean by moving from spiritual milk to solid food? Why does Hebrews present such a high view of Jesus? Then the conversation turns to Isaiah: why some call it the “Fifth Gospel,” how to understand prophecy and double fulfillment, and what Isaiah’s unforgettable throne-room encounter teaches us about seeing God clearly and answering His call.

Justin sits down with Jim Johnson to finish Hebrews and continue through Isaiah. They unpack Jesus as both the perfect High Priest and the once-for-all sacrifice, wrestle with Hebrews’ warnings about deliberate sin and falling away, explore what it means that faith is the “proof of what is not seen,” and highlight some surprising heroes of Hebrews 11. Then it’s into Isaiah: spiritual drift, Egypt and Assyria becoming God’s people, Isaiah walking around naked, “eat, drink, and be merry,.

Ryan Vincent joins Justin in the studio to wrestle with Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, and the closing chapters of Acts. We talk about how to read Ecclesiastes without slipping into nihilism, what it means that life is “vapor,” why we should still enjoy God’s gifts, and how the book ultimately points us toward fearing God. We also discuss the purpose of Song of Songs, baptism and forgiveness in Acts 22, Paul’s Roman citizenship, “The Way,” and whether Acts was ever meant to have a third volume.

Scot Irwin and Jim Johnson join Justin Ebert on Consider This as we finish Proverbs, wrestle with the tension and wisdom of Ecclesiastes, and dig into Acts 18–21. We talk Proverbs 31, how to read Ecclesiastes well, the meaning of “vapor,” and whether or not people should get rebaptised.

Justin is joined by Jim Johnson to discuss Proverbs 1–15 and Acts 14–17. They talk about signs and wonders, appointing elders, Jewish believers wrestling with old traditions, Paul and Barnabas parting ways, Timothy’s circumcision, and Paul’s sermon in Athens.
