As an initial response to a generous gift by Trustee Emeritus Hazem Chehabi, CGU crafted a transdisciplinary course around artist Saad Yagan’s Gilgamesh series of paintings, studying the unique character of this collection and examining it from numerous perspectives. The course examined the Gilgamesh story, its modern discovery by scholars, and the impact of this discovery on its interpretation, as well as concepts of religion, masculinity, and gender revealed in the ancient text.
