Faith is a supernatural "leap in the dark" requiring a heroic assent. This obscurity is strategically vital; lacking intellectual evidence, the will is liberated to offer a truly loving adherence. In this darkness, the soul’s merit is won, transforming human powerlessness into a springboard toward God. Even a mustard-seed conviction thus moves spiritual mountains, turning anguish into glory. Yet this hidden flame is not for the interior cell alone; it must become the light that envelops daily life.To live by faith is to pass over secondary causes to reach the first cause: Divine Providence. Following Sr. Elizabeth of the Trinity, we perceive every event as a message of love, maintaining serenity in adversity. Here, the soul joins St. Thérèse in the sweetness of serving in darkness, finding a permanent haven of peace. This simple, resolute faith recognizes God’s paternal hand ordering all things for our sanctification.

Contemplation and Castanets is a podcast dedicated to Carmelite spirituality and the life of the Carmelite family. We explore the teachings of St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, St. Thérèse of Lisieux, and other Carmelite saints, along with topics related to contemplative prayer, mental prayer, Carmelite formation, OCDS life, religious vocations, Carmelite legislation, and the mission of Carmelite friars, nuns, and seculars. Whether you are discerning a vocation, living the Carmelite charism, or simply seeking a deeper life of prayer, you’ll find reflections, discussions, and resources rooted in the rich tradition of Carmel. Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The interior soul is invited to follow Mary into the depths of the contemplative life, where Carmel signifies a garden of virtues. By silencing the noise of the passions, the heart becomes a solitary sanctuary for the divine presence. This meditation presents Mary’s soul as an "oasis of silence and peace" amidst worldly tumult. Here, the soul finds its true security in the shadow of God, transformed into a garden where the Lord finds His delights and our supernatural life achieves its flowering.
