What’s good Few Tang Clan?!?! I think loose usage of the word “Svengali” has softened its meaning. I always took the word to mean a person that takes the diamond in the rough, works musical and music industry “magic” to create a star. Little did I know the word is a name, and that name belonged to a pretty sinister character from "Tribly", the 1894 novel/musical. This new information helped us distinguish between the svengalis we love and respect, from the ones we should be weary of; the Big Bad Wolves of the music industry if you will. It helped us be able to discern when the word is being used “properly” or better yet, to what effect. Yeah we know...#HipHopNerd ish lol. Welcome to The Role of the Svengali in Hip Hop.
