We're taking a short break for Conversate during the month of April. We'll be back with fresh episodes each week starting the first week of May! See you then!
In this week’s episode, Aaron and Kevin, engage in a conversation about the Parable of the Prodigal Son and what it tells us about evangelism, reaching out to those who are lost, but also the father’s welcome for us into his loving arms. In this conversation, they get real practical about how to go about having evangelistic conversations and seeking after those are lost. So, if you’re wondering about how to do this, and how to have those conversations, then this episode is for you.
As always, we hope you enjoy it!
In this week's episode, Aaron and Kevin discuss the beginning of Jesus' ministry and how unconventional (according to worldly standards) it was. From the calling of a rag-tag bunch of disciples, to his ministry with Samaritans, his welcoming of women, and the sending of the Holy Spirit.
So, what about us? Is Jesus still at work now in our lives? How?
We discuss this and so much more - even pondering why woodpeckers would pound on the metal cap of Aaron's chimney.
As always, we hope you enjoy this conversation!
In this week's episode, Aaron and Kevin discuss time. Time is an interesting thing. We are all bound by time as we live here on this earth. But, God is not bound by time because God created time. He doesn't have to play by its rules.
But, God is involved in time. God has us alive for such a time as this. So, how do we align ourselves to God's timing of things? Or, how can we pay attention to what God is doing at certain times so that we can be sure to seize those opportunities to participate in what he's doing?
These are big questions worth pondering, and this week Aaron and Kevin do their best to deal with these deep topics while also telling stories and keeping it practical for all our listeners.
As always, we hope you enjoy it!
In this week's episode, Aaron and Kevin talk about what it's like when reality doesn't match our expectations. There are so many real world examples where this happens and the guys share some personal stories.
But where is God in all of it? When things just aren't working out the way that we hoped or desired, what can we do to find contentment?
All this and more in this week's conversation.
We hope you enjoy it!
In this week's episode, Aaron and Kevin talk about the Book of Daniel. In Daniel, we encounter Daniel and his 3 friends who remain faithful to God in spite of what the world throws at them. This conversation leads Aaron and Kevin to talk about identity, what it means to be a child of God, and how to be aware about whether we are paying attention to Jesus' truth, or the devil's lies.
This world throws a lot at us, and we can look to the Book of Daniel to find hope and encouragement to remain faithful.
We hope you enjoy this conversation!
In this week's episode, Aaron and Kevin sit down to talk about humility. There are many episodes in life, challenging as they might be, where God can bring us to a place of humility and dependence on Him.
Aaron and Kevin talk about the realities of how difficult it can be to be vulnerable, humble, and dependent on other people. But, through practical examples in this conversation, they help to remind us that it is good to always be at a place where we say to God, "Lord, I need you."
We hope you enjoy this conversation!
In this week's episode, Aaron is back to join Kevin in a conversation about identity. As Aaron had been out sick for a few weeks, he shares a bit about what that was like and how he is doing. Kevin talks about Hezekiah and the identity that he has as a child of God. And finally, we tell a story about a local man who was without any idea of his identity at all, but is now finding it once again.
We hope you enjoy it!
Live and let live! Worship what you want to worship. There is no "one right way." All paths are equally valid. These are statements of a pluralistic and "tolerant" society.
And these statements are revered as "Truth" in America today. People squirm (at best) when someone claims religious authority, and condemn and crucify (at worst) those who claim it.
But once came a man who said, "I am THE way, THE truth." How do we reconcile the words of Jesus with the words we encounter in the world?
Take a listen - as Pastor Kevin & Don Kuiper jump into the world of Elijah - who also dealt with pluralistic notions of "tolerance." See the outcome of this story, and consider your response to the question: "What makes Christianity better than other religions? What makes it true?"
We hope you find this episode challenging and thought provoking.
