Conversation about Community is an annual event hosted by Operation Shoestring. This reimagined Conversation about Community explores what it takes to ensure all children in our city are supported, affirmed, and able to reach their full potential. Panelists include Mississippi Today’s managing editor Kayleigh Skinner moderating a conversation between panelists Attorney Letitia Johnson (JPS parent and board trustee), Dr. Michelle Owens (OB/GYN and faculty member, UMMC), and the Rev. Chuck Poole (sr. pastor, Northminster Baptist Church).
This year’s Conversation about Community is a solutions-focused forum exploring how we must come together to make the city of Jackson a place where all of our children can flourish.
Conversation about Community is an annual event presented by Operation Shoestring. Operation Shoestring provides year-round academic, social and emotional support to children in central Jackson from pre-K – 12th grade, while supporting and providing resources to their families. The aim is to empower the children and families we serve to create their own success, and that of their community, so we all rise together.
