Karen definition: According to the internet, a “Karen” is defined as, “a pejorative term used in the United States and other English-speaking countries for a woman (Men) perceived to be entitled or demanding beyond the scope of what is considered appropriate or necessary. Systemic racism is something we cannot escape from and reducing it to being nothing more than a mild annoyance embodied by a group of individuals is unfair. “Karen” is now a punchline. However funny it may seem, it’s no laughing matter. This is problematic. Why? Because it undermines just how common and dangerous the workplace Karen’s are to Black people in the workplace. Some not all corporate companies lack diversity, and although it can feel like an accomplishment to be selected into a role in a corporate company amongst other minority candidates, the office climate can soon change, and you may find yourself questioning so many things.
