September 30, 2013Conversations Beyond Science and Religion – Larry Dossey and The One MindThe notion that we are part of one mind stands directly opposed to virtually everything we’ve been taught, which makes it a strange idea. Don’t we all have separate bodies with separate brains, disconnected creatures following our own paths? Isn’t all that matters our own personal success? On this show, Philip Mereton explores the notion of the one mind with, Dr. Larry Dossey (http://www.dosseydossey.com/larry/default.html ), best-selling author of the new book, One Mind: How Our Individual Mind is Part of a Greater Consciousness and Why it Matters (http://www.amazon.com/One-Mind-Individual-Greater-Consciousness/dp/1401943152 ). As this conversation shows, multiple lines of evidence are pointing in the direction of the one mind, and soon it might not be such a strange thought after all....more1h 1minPlay
September 23, 2013Conversations Beyond Science and Religion – The Secrets of Positive BrainwashingThe term brainwashing can be used to describe the process by which we give up control of our minds and thoughts and adopt, without questioning, the ideas impressed upon us by parents, teachers, the media, religious leaders, celebrities and a variety of other sources. These ideas turn negative when they limit our potential, imposing permanent economic or social handicaps that are no more real than the thought that holds them. On this show, Philip Mereton talks with Michaelson Williams (http://www.michaelsonwilliams.com ), the author of Trainwashing: The Secrets of Positive Brainwashing, (http://www.amazon.com/Trainwashing-Secrets-Positive-Washing-ebook/dp/B00BHZOQ1G) about how this problem develops and what we can do to train our minds to reverse the process, practice positive brainwashing, and take back control of our mind and our future....more1h 1minPlay
September 16, 2013Conversations Beyond Science and Religion – Dean Radin: Yoga, Science, and the SupernormalAccording to a recent CBS poll, 57% of the American public believes in some form of physic phenomena. But according to modern science, psychic phenomena is unproven, and anyone who believes in these events is in some way deluded. (http://www.michaelshermer.com/the-believing-brain/) Philip Mereton's guest this week, Dean Radin (http://deanradin.com/), perhaps more than any other person, has used the rigorous methods of science to show that psychic phenomena is real, and also consistent with the findings of quantum theory. In his new book, Supernormal: Science, Yoga, and the Evidence for Extraordinary Psychic Abilities, (http://www.amazon.com/Supernormal-Science-Evidence-Extraordinary-Abilities/dp/030798690X) he shows that according to ancient yoga tradition, psychic abilities result from a refinement of the mind, and reflect a natural power anyone can master....more1h 2minPlay

September 02, 2013Conversations Beyond Science and Religion – Is the Paranormal Real?Life-after death, near-death, and out-of-body experiences; noisy spirits; haunted houses; and ghosts. Paranormal happenings, however much science tells us they don’t exist, continue to fascinate the intellect, as evidenced by the increasing number of readers, TV viewers, and moviegoers attracted to stories breaking the rules of what we call reality. While the media tends to sensationalize the paranormal for entertainment value, there are a number of researchers studying the paranormal using the methods of science. Philip Mereton’s guest this week is one of the country’s leading paranormal researchers, Ed Ozosky (http://www.linkedin.com/pub/ed-ozosky/47/6a8/9a9), founder of Hauntings Research (http://www.hauntingsresearch.com/)and instructor of Paranormal Studies at Pittsburgh Area College. Is the paranormal real? After listening to this interview, you may no longer have any doubts....more1h 7minPlay
August 26, 2013Conversations Beyond Science and Religion – The Imminent Convergence Between Science and SpiritualityYou may not have noticed, but a vast array of phenomena remain unexplained in our current world model. These mysteries range from cosmic ones like dark matter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Matter)(the missing mass holding the universe together) and dark energy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_energy)(the missing energy accelerating the expansion of the universe) to the paranormal, and God itself. There is hope that in the coming decades we will come upon a new world outlook that will solve the mysteries of the cosmos while also solving the mysteries of the spirit. But if we tear down the existing world model, we will need something to replace it. Join Philip Mereton as he discusses a provocative new idea for accomplishing this goal proposed by guest Thomas Fusco, author of the book, Behind the Cosmic Veil: A New Vision of Reality Merging Science, the Spiritual and the Supernatural (http://www.cosmicveil.com/ )....more1h 7minPlay
August 19, 2013Conversations Beyond Science and Religion – Finding our own IntuitionModern research -- and ancient tradition -- show that there is more to intelligence than mental power. Balancing the many facets of intelligence -- emotional (http://psychology.about.com/od/personalitydevelopment/a/emotionalintell.htm), sensory, and intuitive -- offers the best promise for reaching our potential as human beings. This week's guest, Suzanna Axisa (http://www.thegapcoach.com/), joins Philip Mereton from Venice, Italy to talk about how, by better understanding how to access our own intuition, we can close the gap between who we think we are and who we really are....more1h 2minPlay
August 12, 2013Conversations Beyond Science and Religion – Are we in the Midst of a New Thought Revolution? All signs point to a revolution. But this revolution will not occur in the streets or on the battlefield, but in the mind. The revolution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Structure_of_Scientific_Revolutions) will turn us from viewing the world as a random collection of mindless particles to a world of the mind. It will integrate the findings of quantum theory and the truths of Eastern mysticism into what we are. On this show, Philip Mereton talks with leading thinker Dianne Collins (http://diannecollins.com/), author of Do you QuantumThink? New Thinking that will Rock your World (http://www.amazon.com/Do-You-QuantumThink-Thinking-World/dp/159079074X ), about why we need a change in thinking and what this new world of the mind might look like....more1h 2minPlay
August 05, 2013Conversations Beyond Science and Religion – Ascension TimeViewed from the perspective of science, we are random creations doomed to live short, meaningless lives on an average planet in a universe destined to burn out in the distant future. Viewed from the perspective of spirituality, we are ascending the ladder of consciousness toward a world fulfilling the deepest dream of the mind, a heaven on earth. As science has its masters, so does spirituality, represented on this show by modern mystic Rashmi Khilnani, (http://www.rashmikhilnani.com/) author of Shiva Speaks: Conversations with Maha Avatar Babaji (http://www.amazon.com/Shiva-Speaks-Conversations-Avatar-ebook/sim/B00CJEUJGU/2), Divine Mother Speaks: The Healing of the Human Heart, and co-producer with Neale Donald Walsh of the upcoming documentary, IGod. July 29, 2013Conversations Beyond Science and Religion – Is Intelligent Design Science? No subject so sharply highlights the contrast between science and religion as evolution. Over 150 years ago Darwin (http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/151902/Charles-Darwin) wrote that all living things descended from one common ancestor through the process of natural selection (http://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Natural_selection). Later biologists found a mechanism for evolution in copying errors -- or mutations -- made during the reproductive process. But to stay faithful to the God-less worldview of Darwin, these mutations had to be directionless, random and without a goal. Professor Michael Behe, in his best-selling book, Darwin's Black Box (http://www.amazon.com/Darwins-Black-Box-Biochemical-Challenge/dp/0743290313), argued that the most fundamental elements of living things possess an inherent complexity that cannot be reduced to separate parts that could have arisen simply through random mutations. Rather, things like the cell contain an interlocking machinery strongly suggesting that they were designed, like a mouse-trap or watch, with an end in view. But intelligent design remains an heretical notion in our current scientific worldview. Join Philip Mereton as he talks with Michael Behe over whether intelligent design is science, and perhaps even the future of science....more59minPlay
