What has God already placed in your hands that you keep putting off?
Sloth is often reduced to laziness, but the deeper issue is neglecting what God has entrusted to us. Our time. Our gifts. Our responsibilities. Our relationships. Even our walk with Him.
In this episode of Conversations in the Word, we continue our Seven Deadly Sins series by looking at Jesus' Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25 and what it teaches us about stewardship and faithfulness.
We also discuss the difference between biblical rest and comfortable avoidance, why continually saying “tomorrow” can become dangerous, and why obedience doesn't always wait for motivation.
As a reminder, the Bible does not give us a specific list called the “Seven Deadly Sins.” This framework developed later in Christian tradition, but each topic in this series addresses sins and heart conditions Scripture directly speaks about.
God isn't asking you to be faithful with the life you wish you had. He's asking you to be faithful with the life He's given you.
Stop waiting for different circumstances to become faithful. Start with what God has already placed in your hands.
Anger isn't always sinful—but what happens when anger begins controlling us?
In this episode of Conversations in the Word, we continue our Seven Deadly Sins series by discussing wrath. While the Bible does not give us a specific list called the “Seven Deadly Sins,” each of these sins comes from patterns and principles clearly addressed throughout Scripture.
We look at the difference between anger and wrath, why being right doesn't always make our response righteous, and how Jesus shows us a better way to respond when we've been hurt or wronged.
Through James 1:19–20, Romans 12:19, 1 Peter 2:23, and other passages, we explore what Scripture calls us toward instead: patience, forgiveness, mercy, self-control, and trusting God with justice.
Wrath says, “You hurt me, so you deserve to hurt too.”
Mercy says, “You hurt me, but I refuse to let what you did determine who I become.”
Be quick to listen. Slow to speak. Slow to anger. And trust God with the rest.
What happens when you’ve been praying for something, waiting for something, hoping for something—and then you watch God give it to someone else?
Envy is more than wanting what another person has. It begins when their blessing starts affecting our contentment, when comparison turns into resentment, and when we start questioning God’s goodness because our timeline looks different.
In this episode of Conversations in the Word, we look at Cain and Abel, Saul and David, Peter and John, and what Scripture teaches us about comparison, jealousy, gratitude, contentment, and trusting God’s timing.
The question at the heart of this episode is simple:
Can I trust God’s goodness when He gives someone else what I’ve been asking Him for?
Key Scriptures:
Genesis 4:3–8
1 Samuel 18:6–9
John 21:20–22
Philippians 4:11–13
1 Corinthians 13:4
Someone else’s blessing is not evidence of God’s absence in your life.
Their assignment is theirs.
Their timeline is theirs.
Your calling is yours.
Keep your eyes on Jesus, remain faithful with what He has given you, and follow Him.
Pride doesn't always look like arrogance. Sometimes it hides behind success, self-reliance, recognition, or even good intentions. It's one of the most subtle sins because it's often the hardest to recognize in ourselves.
In the first episode of our Seven Deadly Sins series, we explore what the Bible says about pride, why it separates us from God, how it quietly influences our hearts, and how humility is the path back to Him.
We'll look at the fall of Satan, the temptation in the Garden of Eden, the example of Jesus, and practical ways we can choose humility every day.

Conversations in the Word is a weekly podcast where we explore biblical truth, ask meaningful questions, and learn how God's Word speaks into everyday life.
Have you ever looked at your life and thought, "Maybe this is how the story ends?"
We all experience seasons that feel permanent—waiting, disappointment, unanswered prayers, broken plans, and chapters that don't seem to make sense. It's easy to believe that the page we're living today defines the rest of our lives.
But what if we're judging the story before it's finished?
In this episode of Conversations in the Word, we explore what Scripture reveals about the Author of our lives. Through the stories of Joseph, David, Abraham, and ultimately Jesus, we discover that God has never abandoned a story He's begun. He writes with purpose, redeems painful chapters, and remains faithful even when we can't see the next page.
If you've ever questioned God's timing, wondered why you're still waiting, or felt like your story has stalled, this conversation is for you.
The page you're on is real—but it isn't the whole story. Trust the Author.
The Christian life isn't built on one big breakthrough—it's built on daily faithfulness.
In this episode of Conversations in the Word, we explore how the spiritual battle is often won through the small, ordinary decisions we make each day. Every prayer, every chapter of Scripture, every temptation resisted, every act of obedience, and every step toward becoming more like Christ matters.
Don't overlook today's victory because it seems small. God uses consistent faithfulness to prepare us for the battles ahead and to shape us into the people He has called us to be.
Scriptures referenced:
Zechariah 4:10
1 Samuel 17
Galatians 6:9
Philippians 3:12–14

Why does the number 40 appear so often throughout the Bible?
From Noah's flood, to Moses on Mount Sinai, to Israel wandering in the wilderness, to Jesus fasting for forty days, Scripture repeatedly uses "forty" to mark seasons of preparation, testing, dependence, and transformation.
In this episode of Conversations in the Word, we explore what it means to be "living in your forty." Maybe your life feels like it's on pause. Maybe you're waiting for clarity, praying for an opportunity, or wondering why God hasn't opened the next door yet.
What if your waiting isn't wasted?
What if God is using this season to prepare your heart before He fulfills His purpose?
Join us as we look through Scripture and discover how God often does His greatest work in the wilderness before leading us into the promise.
Key Scriptures:
Deuteronomy 8:2
Matthew 4:1–11

Your wilderness isn't where God forgot you—it's where He's forming you.
Every day, something is competing for your attention.
Your phone.
Your goals.
Your career.
Your relationships.
Your fears.
But what if the greatest battle you're facing isn't for your time—it's for your heart?
In this week's episode of Conversations in the Word, we talk about how our attention shapes who we become and why Jesus continually invites us to fix our eyes on Him in a world full of distractions.
The question isn't just, "Do I have time for God?"
It's, "What owns my attention?"
