🎙️ Tim English — Revive Me!

In Part 2 of my conversation with Tim, we talk about what happens when we stop relying on self-effort and allow God to change us. We dive into Ephesians 4, godly sorrow, the Fruit of the Spirit, breaking old habits, and recognizing the patterns and tendencies that can keep us stuck. Sometimes revival starts with something as simple as apologizing to your wife and allowing God to change your heart. 🙏

Tim and I also talk about marriage, including insights from How We Love and The Noble Marriage. We discuss memorizing Scripture, finding a life verse, and letting God’s Word transform the way we live. Psalm 40:1-3 has been especially meaningful to Tim—waiting on God, being lifted from the pit, and receiving a new song.

Tim’s new album, “Revive Me!”, is a thematic collection inspired by Scripture and his journey with God. We talk about writing songs from the Psalms, trusting God, His amazing love, and the message behind the new song “Revive Me!” 🎶🔥

And finally, we talk about something many of us struggle with: rest. Isaiah 30 reminds us that strength can be found in quietness and trust. Sometimes we need to slow down, stop striving, and give ourselves permission to rest. ❤️

Ruth & Scott Walker | House of Light 🏠✨

What happens when two people decide to spend the rest of their lives serving God? 🙏 Sometimes, He leads you somewhere unexpected—and sometimes He simply asks you to leave room for a miracle. ✨

Ruth and Scott met in Cambridge, England 🇬🇧. Ruth grew up in Kansas and California, while Scott grew up in Western and Eastern Washington. They’ve served on staff at several small churches and have learned that ministry isn’t always about a platform—it’s about people. ❤️

Ruth worked at Bible Book House on Lana Avenue, then Rainbow West, and now they have their own store: House of Light. 🏠💡 Open just six months, it’s designed to be more than a store. It’s a place of encouragement, refuge, and reprieve for the body of Christ. 🙌

They don’t have children of their own, but their home has always had room for extra people. ❤️ And that same heart of hospitality is now part of House of Light.

Their message is powerful: God loves His children so much that He gave His life for them and carried their sin. ✝️ If God loves us that much, shouldn’t we love others with that same kind of love?

Ken grew up as a “PGK”—a preacher’s grandkid. His grandfather pastored Portland Foursquare Church for nearly 30 years, and Ken made his own decision to follow Jesus at just five years old. After graduating from Bible college in California, he spent nearly a decade in full-time ministry, convinced he knew exactly what God had planned for his life… until life took an unexpected turn.

Divorce, family struggles, financial highs and lows, and years of hidden compromise challenged everything Ken thought he knew. Although he never walked away from his faith, he admits he often wrestled with surrender, trying to numb the pain instead of trusting God through it. His story is an honest reminder that even believers can lose their way without losing their faith.

God wasn’t finished with Ken. Through careers in ministry, mortgages, business development, even a season at Costco, the Lord used every chapter to shape him. Then came an unexpected calling with Convoy of Hope, where serving others helped renew his purpose and reminded him that God often works through the seasons we never would have chosen.

Today, Ken is married to his high school sweetheart, is a proud father of four adult children and grandfather of two, and has a deep passion for helping men who are trying to fight life’s battles alone. He believes the daily challenge is keeping Jesus at the center, fixing our eyes on Christ—the “Author and Perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2)—while surrounding ourselves with the right people and choosing surrender over self.

Al’s journey began in the Philippines before moving to the United States in 2002 to teach Shotokan Karate. 🥋 That opportunity changed his life forever—not only did it launch a new career, but it also led him to meeting his wife. More than 22 years later, they’re still building a beautiful life together with their two daughters. ❤️👨‍👩‍👧‍👧

💪 Discipline has always been at the center of Al’s life. From karate to journaling, fasting, accountability, and staying consistent, he believes success comes from showing up every day. His advice? “Just get up and do it!” 🚀 Eliminate the noise, stay focused, and never stop growing.

Mayra’s story is one of purpose, growth, and building a legacy. As the Owner and Principal Broker of Rocha Realty LLC, she’s passionate about helping families achieve homeownership and create generational wealth. But beyond real estate, Mayra’s greatest role is being a mom to her two daughters, who inspire nearly every decision she makes. 

Throughout our conversation, she shared why the journey matters just as much as the destination, and how being the “CEO of your family” begins with knowing your values and your motives.

Today, she and her husband also help operate Arialo Reforestation, a business whose name combines the first three letters of each of their daughters’ names—a meaningful reminder that family is at the center of everything they build. From starting a Christmas tree farm to teaching their girls responsibility through a summer vegetable stand, Mayra believes some of life’s greatest lessons are learned by working together and growing something that lasts.

We discussed the power of surrounding yourself with the right people, giving yourself grace, staying focused on your values, and creating intentional strategic plans for both your business and your life. Great books like Atomic Habits and tools like DISC have helped shape her leadership and decision-making along the way.

As we wrapped up, Mayra challenged listeners to think beyond today’s success and ask where they want to be 20 years from now. Instead of dwelling on obstacles, she encouraged us to celebrate the wins, keep learning, and never stop growing.
