How the story of the magi encourages us to appreciate the world around and shine Christ’s light into the lives of others.  

What does Matthew’s Gospel and the arrival of the Wise Men tell us about religious and political reform?   About Jesus’ identity, and how this impacts us, 2,000 years later.

Mary and Joseph take baby Jesus to the temple, in Jerusalem.  There they meet Simeon and Anna who make some pretty big predictions about the life Jesus would live and the kind of person that he would become. 

As always, we are challenged to consider what that has to do with us, 2,000 years later.

John the Baptist helps us prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus, at Christmas.   Along the way, we are reminded that Advent is not simply about passively watching and waiting for something to happen … its an invitation to actively seek out ways to participate in the God’s work in the world. (Mark 1:1-8)
