Happy Monday!!!

Conversations with Friends, episode 21, is a conversation with my friend, my family and my high school basketball Scotty Gilbert, aka Coach Scotty aka Coach! I am honored and grateful to be able to share this convo with you all!

Coach Scotty and I met my freshman year of high school when I decided to try out for the varisty basketball team. I can't remember how those try ours went now, though I know we worked for our spots on the team!

Coach has played such a major role in my life that it took many years to really put the pieces together. He was the 1st person that told me "you know that soda will give you cancer, right?" ... I didn't know... though I listened and began changing my diet and lifestyle then.

Coach Scotty led our team and many others after, into multiple city championships and into state games too. His passion for working hard for what you want influenced us all and helped build a team of young women dedicated to following his passion. I learned so much about team, winning, losing, dedication and commitment during my short time on the team. By sophmore year, my life took me along other pathways and bball became a memory.

We reflect on those days, our memories, our wins and our losses. We talk about who Scotty Gilbert is and where he learned not only the game of basketball, though the game of life. You want to win it? Work for it. Period. I take heed Coach!

Friend, thank you for being such a pivotal mentor and part of my path. I appreciate your influence in my life and in the lives of so many young women in San Diego. We all showed up because we needed what you had to share. I am charging your coaching comeback with love and high hopes you get to do it all again!
