You've probably heard this quote before " When you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life.". Well, I once was a big believer in this but recently, I've been wondering if this is truly realistic. After much thought, I arrived at the verdict of "Not Realistic." Personally, I don't believe that we'll always be 100% in love with what we do and I think that's totally okay. In this episode, I shared a couple of reasons why I believe this and how I arrived at this conclusion.
I know, I know!
I've been away for quite some time and for a minute you probably even wondered if I was ever going to come back.
Well I'm here and I thought, what better way to explain where I've been, what I've been up to and what to look forward to than in a short life update episode.
This episode can be noted down as a check off from my podcast bucket list. I had the chance to have a conversation with one of the coolest and most inspiring people I know. Nicole is a spoken word artist, model and Instagram Influencer (according to me). When it comes to her creative pursuits she's killing it and I knew I had to feature her. We talked about everything from her creative journey to what she she thinks of the current and then Kenyan creative industry. She's definitely one to watch out for and I can't wait to see what she'll do next.
You can check her out on: Soundcloud and Instagram
Funks!! Where do we even begin with them?
Sometimes things just don's seem to go as planned and your expectations are not met leading to a nasty case of funk-ititis.
I've been a funk lately and I figured, why not share a couple of things I've been doing and have done before to deal with these oh so frequent funks.
Episode 7 is a pretty special episode as it marks the beginning of a series I've been meaning to work on known as the The Creator Series.
I felt inspired to start this after noticing how the Kenyan creative space is not only rapidly growing but booming as well. A lot of Kenyans are now not only creating content but consuming it as well.
This series aims to follow some of these creators journeys with the aim of inspiring others as well to keep believing in themselves and go for their dreams and passions.
To start us off, we had Nina Odindo, the founder and creative behind Sol Dada, a brand that aims to celebrate Ethnic African prints while also building a "community of sisters and brothers who have a desire to follow their passions, who seek to add colour to their lives and share it with others. "
Catch Sol Dada on their website and on Instagram.
Life sure does have a funny way of letting you know it doesn't agree with your plans. For a lot of us, this can be super frustrating and stressful but it's what we do after that counts.
Yikes!
If there are two vices one should never have together it's definitely these two.. However, if wishes were horses beggars would ride right? Jealousy and comparison are somehow always together and whenever you feel them they have the ability to completely alter your mood and can even be so deadly as to destroy relationships not only with your loved ones but with yourself and God. So how can we deal with these two wanted criminals? Let's explore this together in today's episode!
P.S. I had a bit of a cold hence the sniffling. Please don't mind me :)
