It is important to read the Bible every day, and here are a few reasons why:
a.) it gives us hope
“For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”
Romans 15:4 ESV
b.) it helps us to not sin
“I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”
Psalm 119:11 ESV
“The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slip.”
Psalm 37:31 ESV
c.) it helps us see clearly
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Psalm 119:105 ESV

If you find yourself spending lots of time on social media (or anything else!), but making no time for Jesus, you are not alone!! If you want to read the Bible each day but find yourself “forgetting” to read it, be encouraged by what Paul said in Romans:
“For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand.”
Romans 7:15, 19, 21 ESV
(I recommend reading Romans 7:14-25)

THE CHALLENGE:
- Read all of Psalm 119 today
- Ask God for a love for His Word
- Begin memorizing Bible verses*
* I can’t count the amount of times that the Holy Spirit has helped me by bringing a Bible verse to my mind. It’s helpful to have God’s word in your heart, so you can have it when you need it. I made a website with some verses to memorize (organized by theme), and you can find it at: burgervj.wixsite.com/bibleverses .
Keep shining bright for Jesus!!!

Verla :)
