Everybody Dropped Out the Week Before New York… But I Still Went.
If you've been following the story, you already know — getting to New York did NOT go according to plan.
People dropped out. Plans changed. I had to pivot. And there were definitely moments when I had to ask myself, Do I keep going?
I did.
And in a lot of ways, that experience became part of the very story Through Our Lens was created to tell.
Through Our Lens continues its campaign rooted in truth, power, and the undeniable magic of Black storytelling.
In this NYC chapter, we step into the lives of Black women and men shaping culture, chasing purpose, building legacy, and navigating the weight of ambition in one of the fastest-moving cities in the world.
Because hustle isn't always glamorous.
Sometimes hustle looks like the plan falling apart and going anyway.
Sometimes it's starting over. Pivoting. Betting on yourself. Questioning yourself. Creating with what you have. And finding the courage to keep moving when you have absolutely NO idea how the story is going to end.
That's the part I want us to talk about.
The becoming.
We're telling the stories behind the accomplishments — the survival, self-definition, creativity, resilience, pressure, purpose, and all the messy shit in between.
And we're doing it in our own words, through our own eyes.
This season, New York adds a new rhythm, a new pressure, and a whole new layer to the journey.
But the mission remains the same.
Still truth. Still power. Still us. Just through a New York lens. 🖤
Welcome to Through Our Lens: NYC.
And yes… I'm VERY glad I still got on that plane. 😂
