The city of Seattle is losing its police officers and crime is rising as a result. Over the past 17 months the Seattle Police Department has seen 250 officers leave and Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan says they expect that number to rise to 300. This year the total number of people shot in Seattle has risen by 61%. These statistics follow last year’s initial call by a majority of the Seattle City Council to defund police.
