This is an article from Law Enforcement Today, dated 08/15/24, which describes the Secret Service agents who were involved in a breach of privacy at a Massachusetts hair salon during a campaign event for Kamala Harris. The event took place at a venue located near the salon, so as-is customary, the agents conducted a bomb sweep on the business. Later the next day during the event, the salon's security alarm was triggered during this time when the agents continued to enter and leave the salon without any apparent concern for private property. The agents later apologized, but the owner of the salon felt violated and abused. Tim discusses the article and his embarrassment for some law enforcement officers.

What happened that police officers, and departments, can be sued and/or disciplined for their actions deemed inappropriate? Tim takes you through a case in which an officer approached a supposed passed out drunk on private commercial property. The officer reached for what he thought was the man's identification from his pocket and the man punched the officer in the face. In the officer's reaction, he returned 4 hard punches in 4 seconds. The case suggests that 4 punches was excessive, and that the man lost consciousness with the first or second punch and the officer should've recognized this.

An article titled, "Armed man dressed in all-green riding a bicycle shoots at two officers before being fatally shot.", discusses a report that a man had a gun in a park, so when officers approached him he quickly rode off and wouldn't talk to the officers. They caught up to him in the park and told him to stop, which he did finally, but he turned and shot at the officers, to which the officers returned fire and killed the suspect. Did this have to happen? Not necessarily.

It's been a couple years since an Incident Task Force found that 3 Pocatello Police Officers were justified in shooting that left a man paralyzed.
