Today's episode walks through the basic care plan for a parathyroidectomy. You'll be drawing PTH levels throughout the case so think ahead about where you'll have access for blood draws. Also, pay attention to your calcium levels and check with the surgeon regarding monitoring. You'll most likely use a NIM tube for this case!

In today's episode we discuss management of patients with burn injuries. Patient's with burn injuries will present differently depending on when in their recovery timeline we provide anesthesia. It is important to understand the different physiologic states and how we will manage them during surgery. Pay attention to fluids, temperature, and as always, tailor your medications to their specific needs. 

This case will most likely be your bread and butter as you begin doing generals. Pay attention to your respiratory mechanics while they insuflate the abdomen and keep an eye on your EtCO2 levels!
