  • Hypermobility: A conversation with Rachelle Singh

Rachelle Singh, a psoas savvy movements educator from southern Quebec, has direct lived experience with hyper-mobility. Being professionally trained at the young age of four years old, Rachelle’s love of movement has been her creative expression and life’s passion. She was first diagnosed with hypermobility at the age of fifteen after having dislocated her elbow four times and her ankle twice. Born hyper-mobile offers a person expansive possibilities and serious challenges. Psoas often messages ligamental disruption caused by hyper-mobility. As ligaments define both a boundary and a range of motion within each joint, this disruption can cause a myriad of skeletal compensations. Rachelle shares the wisdom she gained for those of you who are hyper-mobile and for all of us who work with others who are hyper-mobile. She enlightens us by sharing what she has found most helpful and supportive. Having intelligently and lovingly navigated not only hyper-mobility but also the repercussions of adrenal and inflammatory responses associated with being hyper-mobile, Rachelle offers a rich, nuanced conversation on healthy movement.

  • Wild Discernment: A Conversation about Inner Power
This free-flowing conversation emerged out of a need to discern the difference between our inner wild knowing and our savage, feral, and fawning in both gesture and intention. Stalking Wild Psoasauthor/educator Liz Koch and Activating Inner Jaguar author/educator Kimberly Johnson track their personal understanding as two white women who not only grew up in different generations in disparate regions of the U.S., but also experienced very different family conditioning. Together we sniff out and discuss topics concerning the Bluebeard myth of deception, “outing out” perpetrators, being captivated, feral, sacrificing, curious, innocent, powerful, and savage.

  • Core Awareness Exploration: Fetal Curl Expression

Freezing, Curling, and Arcing are three core gestures of the primitive midline and are primal expressions of Psoas (messenger of the midline).
Intentionally starting a small wave motion in either direction along the primal tube will often elicit an undulating response all along the midline/spine. Moving toward the direction expressed in our system acknowledges a bio-intelligence that may already be in process. Curling, freezing, and arcing are three primary gestures of safety that appear when threatened. Similar to the curling inward of a caterpillar, curling protects and provides resiliency. When falling through space it is the primal curl of the spine that helps us survive the fall. Curling brings a sense of safety, shows up when overwhelmed, or exhausted. The gesture is also a way towards restoration and coherency. I encourage following this gesture by rolling into a fetal curl, going into a child’s pose, or by hanging over a large fitness ball. Doing so provides completion of a biological expression that supports our capacity to self-organize.

  • Core Awareness Exploration: Warding Off Expression

Freezing, Curling, and Arcing are three core gestures of the primitive midline and are primal expressions of Psoas (messenger of the midline).
Intentionally starting a small wave motion in either direction along the primal tube will often elicit an undulating response all along the midline/spine from tongue to tail. Moving toward the direction expressed in your system acknowledges a bio-intelligence that may already be in process. Arcing, or what I call Warding Off can be understood as a protective core gesture for standing ground. A gesture of enlarging, seen in the expanded hood of a cobra and the huge mane of a lion, warding off signals power to others.  When the spine arcs, legs, and arms extend, and the volume of one's voice increases, you are warding off. However, not all warding off is aggressive or meant as an intimidating or dissuading gesture. Warding off can simply be showing up and occupying space. This gesture is also seen when startled, such as being surprised by seeing a good friend in an unexpected location. It can be an expansive such as when happily expressing excitement, as well as in the lush satisfaction of an unfolding full-body orgasm. The feeling-quality and energetic expression of warding off shifts depending upon the meaning and context. When warding off becomes the predominant expression, arcing backward over a soft supportive ball, roller or cushion helps moves one in the direction of the gesture, encouraging a wave motion to reappear that can engage a return to center.
