This week, Dave and Adam wrap up Galatians going through 6:11-18

-Dave elaborates on Colossians 2 and 3 and ties it into this week’s message.

-We need to remember to remove the influence of the world and replace it with the Gospel. We just aren’t dying to our old self but put on something greater.

-Adam brings up churches that are focused on glorifying themselves by how many salvations or baptisms they do and connects it to verse 13. It is a tough balance because metrics and statistics mean something but you can’t put too much focus on the numbers to forget why we should be doing those things.

-Dave points out that we need to be cautious to not fall to any extreme on many biblical points. It’s really easy to falter and head towards legalism or where we don’t need to change because we are covered by grace.

Welcome to the Corner Bible Church Podcast

We’re continuing Galatians. This week, we went through Galatians 6:1-10.

Some few things we talk about this week:

-Jim dives in further to Paul’s continuation from the last section about the Spirit and the Flesh

-Jim talks about how the Christian Church in America today seems to focused on proving the Gospel is real when we should be more focused on eternity. Paul shows that we can either be passionate about the physical world and the flesh or really concentrate on the spiritual and connecting with God.

-Jim also has another illustration on bearing each other’s burdens.

-Adam brings up what he’s hesitant about the “anyone” in verse 1. Jim also expands on the “lest you too be tempted” also includes tempted into sin of not correcting them in gentleness.

-Adam shares what he thinks of when filling each other’s cup. And that sharing your victories helps fill the cups above you in the tower.

-Jim shares a story he mentioned in second service about an overseas missionary who put in the time and stayed faithful even though only one person in the village accepted Jesus by the time he retired but 5 years later, he received a letter saying that one person helped everyone in the village become Christians.

-We circle back to Jim’s closing points We need to do two things: First, we must be on the lookout to help bear the burdens of our brothers and sisters who are overwhelmed. Second, we must be willing to allow others into our messy overwhelming circumstances so they can help us, too.

-Adam expands on one thing he said last week with a new illustration of how to put Jesus first.
