The Day of the Lord will bring life in the presence of God for the people of God. Sadly it will bring judgment to the enemies of God. Until then, the enemies of God will press against the people of God.
God will bring His people to His place through faith in the Shepherd who He struck. As He brings His people to His place, He refines them and grows them.
The story of David and Goliath is a picture of seeing through the eyes of faith versus trusting in the flesh. David forecasts our great King Jesus who has defeated our main enemies of sin and death, the flesh and the devil.
God will not abide with sin forever. He will either judge sin or pardon sin through His Good Shepherd, Jesus, whom He desires we trust as our shepherd.
As believers we can find hope that we will not face the judgement of God. We have reason to resist the enemies of God; the world, the flesh, the devil as we know they cannot overcome us and will all be judged by God.
