He Directs us. Psalm 23-4 We need Christ to direct us on His path.---- B. He Corrects us. Psalm 23-4 The Good Shepherd comes after us and corrects us which in the end brings us comfort.---- C. He Defends us. Psalm 23-4, -I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep...- John 10-11-15----3. His Presence. Psalm 23-5-6---- A. Anointed. Psalm 23-5-6 If we have trusted Christ He has anointed us with the Holy Spirit.---- B. Adopted. Psalm 23-6, 4, We are adopted by God if we are part of His family. -...In the same way, it is not the will of your Father in heaven that one of these little ones perish.- Matthew 18-12-14----Jesus is enough, He is all we need-

-They were released by the Sanhedrin and ordered not to speak of Jesus.-- -They went to their friends. v.23-- -Reported what happened and they prayed. v.24-31-- -They began with the Sovereignty of God v.23 Psalm 2-- -God's plans and purposes will never be exhorted.-- --Speak the word with all boldness- v.29-- -God's Hand v.30-- -God's Presence They were fill with the Holy Spirit. v.31-- -They began to speak the word of God with boldness.----May we ask God to give us the boldness to speak His Word in boldness to others.

Thesis- God is the one who saves - we can never merit anything to God. But He didn't save us to sit, we work out our salvation by serving and -working- for the Kingdom where God has placed us.----How we work out our salvation -----1. IMPERATIVE -v.14--- - DO NOT grumble or dispute-- - forget moralism, Paul is going after-- our heart - my way, or His way-- - Ultimate example - Job. Despite his-- righteousness, he had a heart that needed-- to be fixed from grumbling----2. REALITY OF HUMANITY -v.15--- - The world we live in is exactly what we are-- commanded to not be like-- - We are to stand in contrast to the grumbling,-- disputing world we live in - be a light of-- blamelessness-- - We are to stand out in humility -contentment-----3. INDICATIVE -v.16-18--- - We labor not in vain by having an eternal-- mindset in all we do-- - laboring, sacrificing, etc reminds us of Christ's-- sacrifice and we get the joy of being like Him-- in a small way as we work out our salvation----CONCLUSION- Our laboring is -should be- a reminder of the sacrifice He made for us. All we do should be looking to eternity, looking to Him, looking toward our reward.

Thesis- The God who works in his people----Be humble but the reason for humility is Jesus.----1. Obedience - to Jesus leads to Righteousness---- By faith His obedience is now in you, if indeed you truly believe----Work out your Salvation with Fear and Trembling----2. Consistency in our Christian Walk---- -not only as in my presence but much more in my absence-----Philippians 1-27 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firms in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel.----3. God works in so we can work out---- - Philippians 1-6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.---- Work - labor, but who actually labored for your salvation- Christ did it all-----Our Hope is in Christ and His work of the Gospel----Work out your Salvation with Fear and Trembling

Introduction- How do we face suffering- One thing is how we internalize our suffering, and another is how we manifest our pain in public.-- -Fustration-- -Anger at....-- -Fight or Flight-- -Finally, deprission sets in----How do some of us broadcast our suffering-----1. The Ravaging Circumstances-- -Women were raped, old and young people were killed-- -The Temple was burned.-- -Lam 2-20-21 summarizes the apocalyptic scene--2. The Overarching Reality- Jeremiah understood who was behind all of this.-- -It was not random acts, imperial power or the devil.-- -God was behind this apocalypse.--3. Jeremiah's Reaction-- -23 times in verses 1-20 Jeremiah attributed his pain to God.-- -the Holy Spirit inspired these words---4. Jeremiah's Shift- a Mental Resolve--- -Run to the rock that is higher than I.- Ps 61-2.-- -THINK RIGHT about God. verses 21-23-- a. The Steadfast Love of God-- b. The Mercies of God-- c. The Goodness of God--5. MEDITATING ON GOD's NATURE-- a. Hope in God- v24-- b. Submission to God v26-29-- c. Trust in God- v32--6. THE GOSPEL IN SUFFERING-- a. He bore our affliction and pain, -for by His wounds we were healed.-- b. He refused to take a mind-numbing analgesic, when bearing our sins on the cross.-- c. He was -the man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.-- d. Jesus gave his cheek to the strikers-- e. -in our place condemned He stood.---CONCLUSION- How do we face suffering--- a. Honestly, it hurts. No need to pretend. God knows.-- b. Realistically, our sufferings are sent from God.-- c. Remember He who afflicts you. v22-25, 31-33

- -acted in ignorance-. Peter shows that God is a-- forgiving God, granting opportunity for repentance----- John the Baptist, Jesus and all the Apostles preached-- that people should repent from their sin.----- Peter gives thre blessings that come with repentance--- 1. Sins are blotted out-- 2. Times of refreshing -receive Holy Spirit,freedom--- 3. Eternal Life when Christ comes again----- Peter closes by showing in Old Testament that Jesus-- is the fullfilment of past promises and that God's-- covenant is available to all people

1. Unity in Christ V1-2-a. Be of the same mind-i. Encouragement in Christ-ii. Comfort from Love-iii.Fellowship-iv. Affection-Sympathy--2. Display unity v3-4-a. In humility-b. No Selfish Ambition-c. No conceit-d. By counting others more significant than yourselves---3. The God in human Form v5-8-a. The God-Man-b. He did not cease to be God-c. NO MODALISM - God did not change forms-d. Christ humility and obedience of Jesus led Him to the cross--4. The Father Exalts the Son v9-11-a. -gives him the names above all names--b. A Hope - -everyone will bow before him- some in adoration -c. A warning - not everyone that bows will do it in adoration and joy. Some will confess in shame and terror of the last day-d. There is no universal salvation.
