For some, this question causes them to doubt the existence of God; for others, this question causes them to doubt the goodness of God. So how are we to face the reality of a world filled with pain and suffering? The book of Job addresses the question of suffering from a few different vantage points. In the book of Job, Job is suffering from unimaginable pain-the death of all ten of his children, the loss of everything materially, and even physical affliction. If anybody needed a friend, it was Job! Job had a circle of 5 friends-his wife and 4 buddies-who sometimes proved to be good friends, and who sometimes proved to be not-so-good friends.
