#2 – We Bless People by Meeting Them Where They’re At!

Jesus met people where they were at:

- Jesus met people in their sin. (Lk. 5:27-32)

- Jesus met people in their grief. (Lk. 7:11-17)

- Jesus met people who were trapped. (Lk. 8:26-39)

- Jesus went after people who were lost. (Lk. 15:1-7)

- Jesus met people without hope. (Lk. 18:35-43)

- Jesus met people in their curiosity. (Lk. 19:1-9)

- Jesus met people in their confusion. (Lk. 24:35-41)

Don’t write people off. Watch to see how Jesus will write them into His story. (John 1:14)

People are not projects. People are loved by Jesus!

#1 – We Bless People by Praying for Them!

Why pray for people? (1 Tim. 2:1)

There is a difference between being a good neighbor and praying for someone.

Why don’t we pray for the people God has placed in our lives?

BLESS people as you pray for them:

   B – Body

   L – Labor

   E – Emotions

   S – Social

   S - Spiritual

Prayer takes away our need to rescue or fix.

People are not projects. People are loved by Jesus!

Is life about mission or recreation?

Our re-creation is found in our mission!

God has a missional heart. He chooses us so we will be a blessing!

(Gen. 12:1-3; Lk. 10:1-5)

We bless by:

• Praying for people we know!

• Meeting people where they’re at!

• Listening to people’s story!

• Sharing Jesus with people!

There is no “us” vs. “them”. God’s family is open to all! (1 Tim. 2:3-6; Jn. 10:16)

We bless people by being a church that goes UP in worship, IN into community, and OUT in

mission!

Work is a Gift!

Work was a gift from God. (Gen. 1:27-31)

Work became a curse without God. (Gen. 3:17-19)

Work is redeemed in Christ! (Eph. 4:28)

Our work journey:

 I want work that is a gift to me!

 I want my work to be a gift to others!

 My work is a gift to God!

Prayer for work:

Lord, whatever I do today, I do as a gift to you. Thank you for this wonderful world you

created. That is your gift to me. My gift to you is what I do with this day. Amen.

In Christ Alone #6 – It’s About the Opportunities Jesus Brings!

In Christ Alone #5 – It’s About New Life in Jesus Christ!

We get a new life in Jesus Christ! (Col. 3:1-4)

 You have been raised to new life with Christ.

 You died to this life.

 Your real life is hidden with Christ in God.

It’s time to change clothes: Take off the old life and put on the new life! (Col. 3:5-17)

Our “new clothes” reflect Jesus! (Col. 3:12-16)

What the new life in Christ looks like in our homes: “I represent Jesus to…” (Col. 3:18-4:1)

 Do you need to ask Jesus to give you a new life?

 Enjoy your new “Jesus clothes” at home and work!

In Christ Alone #4 - It’s not about the rules, it’s about the relationship.

John Piper, the famous Baptist preacher, says that Christianity is “not first and foremost a religion.  It is first and foremost ___________ .”

In Christ Alone #3 – It’s all about gladly serving Jesus!

For whom or what are you willing to sacrifice and suffer? (Col. 1:24-25, 27-29; 1 Cor. 12:27;

Mk. 12:31; 1 Tim. 5:8)

Comfort is not the goal. The goal is a glad willingness to sacrifice so that our neighbors can

experience the love of Jesus Christ.

changes lives! (Col. 2:1-2)

Life change happens through sacrificial investment of time, energy and attention.
