  • Love, justice and the heavenly way
    Romans 3:21-26
We were dead and hopeless in sin. But because of his grace, Jesus died in our place as a perfect and worthy sacrifice. The atonement shows the love of God, that he made a way for undeserving people to be with Him. But it also shows the justice of God. That there were in fact sins to be atoned for. Without justice and a tremendous cost of sin, the atonement of Christ makes no sense. We see the cost of sin and the wrath of God for sin on the cross.

  • Name changer
    Romans 8:14-17
The son of God died so we could be God’s sons.
Through the gospel, there are many gracious things that God does in the lives of believers. He forgives us of our sins. He sanctifies us by His Spirit. He prepares a place for us in heaven. Tremendous blessings from God. But the gospel is also fundamentally relational. When we come to faith in God, we become members of God’s family. We are adopted as God’s children. And we are enabled to approach the Almighty creator of the universe as our “father.”

  • Behind the Veil
    2 Corinthians 3:18
Sanctification is the process by which God makes his people holy. To be a Christian is to be sanctified by God. It’s necessary because all who have faith in the gospel are given the Holy Spirit and we are sanctified through the Spirit. It progresses throughout life. It should be something to give a Christian hope: God works in His followers. God makes the unholy holy.
