God has revealed himself through the gift, His inspired word, the Bible. And as we read, study, and meditate on the inspired Word of God in print, we find ourselves getting to know the life-giving power of the Word of God in person—Jesus Christ—even better.

75 feet. That’s the distance the average person scrolls on their phone every single day. The biggest chunk of the 75-foot scroll? Distractions. Scrolling through Instagram, checking Facebook, seeing what’s trending on Twitter or TikTok...we kill time with every swipe. And the longer we scroll, the more disconnected we get—from reality, relationships, and God’s purpose for our lives. Let’s stop the scroll, put distractions in their place, and fight for our attention.

We can practice, we can train, we can work. But no matter how hard we try, we will never reach perfection. So, thank God perfection is not the goal! The sooner that we realize perfection is impossible, the better off our life will be. When we understand this, we are freed from a life of endlessly pursuing an unattainable goal. Instead, God calls us to a life of better—taking steps towards him and the future he has in mind for us.

Routine is fantastic. It provides us with guardrails—a type of structure and purpose for our lives. That said, routine packaged in a “that’s how we’ve always done it” mindset can become a prison. If we’re not careful, we will start living on autopilot. But, there are moments in life when will God call you out of your normal routine and into something greater. Will you be willing to break the routine and fix your eyes on the uncertain future where God is calling you?

Everyone in the world is unique, and with that uniqueness comes unique experiences, insights, and world views. But there’s something else that is ultra unique and one of a kind: Truth. It stands on its own. No personal experiences, insights, or world views can alter it. And the most amazing thing? Truth has a name. The sooner we learn it, the better our life will be.

The old is gone, the new is here! Jesus has conquered sin and death, fulfilling the requirements of the Law once and for all. In its place, we have a new life-giving command. Instead of a burden, it’s a blessing. And as we follow it, we breathe life and bring resurrection to every situation. It’s time, Church. Time to let the dead rest in peace, and time step into the power of the new, life-giving law that Jesus has put in place.

This may shock you, but it’s the truth: the Bible—God’s word—specifically calls another part of the Bible “obsolete.” In fact, it says that it is “...outdated and will soon disappear.” You see, Christians have been living haunted lives for no reason. The ghosts of the old covenant don’t get to haunt us anymore—unless we allow them to. And that’s because we’ve been given something better. God has replaced the death of the Law with something better—new life in Christ!

Christians, we’re haunted. Ghosts lurk around every corner, and the thing is—we’ve brought this haunting upon ourselves! For years, we’ve mixed elements of the old covenant Law with the new covenant of Jesus. In the process, we have unintentionally invited specters to torment and burden us with something terrifying—something we’ve never been able to handle.
