We live in a time where human life is devalued. For example, this Wednesday (1/22) is the 47th anniversary of Roe v. Wade -- the court decision that legalized abortion in our country. What does the Bible say about the value of human life? What are we, as Christians, called to do today to preserve human life? We look to Mark 1:40-45 to help answer those questions and more.

This Sunday we continue in our Advent Series of the Alternate Birth Narratives of Jesus as we look at some of the other passages that speak of Jesus birth and incarnation. This Sunday we will be in Galatians 4:4-5. Galatians 4 is a beautiful picture of God's perfect timing in sending his Son, Jesus, into the world, who was born to redeem, and that redemption is more relational and familial then we think. It is an adoption. We are brought into the very family of God. Christmas is a time for joy, but not merely for presents, but that through adoption we are sons and daughters of the Most High God! Praise Jesus!

In Mark 9:2-13, we read that the disciples get a glimpse of Jesus' glory as he is transfigured before them. How does this event help us to not only understand God's glory but even enjoy it? Listen and find out!

In 1 John 1:1-4 we see that Jesus is born to give us life, both abundant and eternal, and that such life gives us much joy. Ever shove clutter into a closet? Swept dirt under the rug? We do that to make our living spaces look good before others. Yet, we cannot do that with God. He sees all things. And because he is holy, he cannot tolerate the dirt of sin in our lives. How do we get clean before God? Truly clean — inside and out? We look to Mark 7:1-23 to find out.

The feeding of the 5,000, one of Jesus’s best-known miracles is often misunderstood—by us, but even by the disciples who witnessed it and participated in it! They think they are on a company retreat with their CEO, but Jesus miraculously challenges them to think about him in different terms: the Good Shepherd, the Bread of Life. Those feeling starved in their Christian service and ministry, take heart! Your Shepherd feeds you!

We continue our sermon series in Mark looking at 3:20-30. Jesus again is confronted by the religious leaders now as they make assessments on how he is able to perform these miracles. But not only the religious leaders but even his close family is concerned for him. What we'll see this morning is that we all are on a side as it relates to Jesus, but whose side are you on?
