Introduction to "Corona-virus (COVID-19) - The pandemic that is spreading across the globe"
In this episode of the Lifestyle, Travel & Technology podcast, the hosts Alexander, Garry and Nikki cover a serious topic that is affecting almost everyone in the world. Unless you've been living under a rock the past weeks/months, you've heard of the Corona-virus aka COVID-19 that has spread from a small town in China named Wuhan to all corners of the world.
Many countries are calling for serious emergency measures, where whole city's are on lock down and some towns fully cut off from the outside world as they are placed under quarantine.
European countries are imposing certain travel bans and shutting down their borders to prevent the further spread of the virus.
Other measures a lot of countries are imposing, like Austria, are:
- Stores providing non essential goods will be shutdown, whereas stores that do provide essential goods will operate as normal (Supermarkets, Pharmacies, etc)
- Groups and gatherings of 100 people or more are not allowed indoors
- Outdoor events with more than 500 people are also disallowed
- Restaurants and other F&B establishments will only be open until 3p.m
The hosts also share what they've read from various trustworthy sources, on how to protect yourself from the virus, avoid visiting people of the risk group, what the symptoms are of it and most importantly not to panic.
