Secretary Alisha Tafoya Lucero was appointed by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham in 2019 to serve as Secretary of the New Mexico Corrections Department. She has dedicated over 25 years to public service, beginning her career in Corrections at the Penitentiary of New Mexico as a Classification Officer. Over the years, she has held numerous roles, including Probation and Parole Officer, Unit Manager, Deputy Warden, and Warden. Secretary Tafoya Lucero holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, both from the University of New Mexico.
