Lonnie Ballentine  is a former NFL Safety. He was drafted by the Houston Texans with the final pick (256th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft, making him Mr. Irrelevant for 2014. He played college football at Memphis. Ballentine signed a 4-year, $2.27 million contract with the Texans and is now in retirement, making deals as a global investor.

Mario Lemons is a native of Detroit, and was educated in the Detroit Public Schools system. He graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, and a Master’s Degree in Teaching and Curriculum, with a Specialization in English and Language Instruction. Mario is passionate about empowering young people to be their best selves and is excited to bring his expertise to Detroit Achievement Academy. For the past six years, Mario has dedicated himself to educating young people in the arts, as well as empowering students academically, socially and emotionally. Outside of school, Mario enjoys traveling frequently with his travel club, being involved in the arts community, and giving back to the less fortunate.

Dave Weatherspoon is a professor in the Agricultural, Food and Resource Economics Department and Associate Dean for Undergradate Education  at Michigan State University. Prior to MSU, he was an Assistant and then Associate Professor of Agribusiness Management at Florida A&M University. Dave teaches food industry marketing and industrial organization courses.  He has led agribusiness programs and numerous research and evaluation teams for the World Bank, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), global research institutes and universities to address the gnarly problems that poverty represents to millions of people in over 30 countries.  His research on domestic and international food supply chain issues has been referenced in the literature and in the popular press; New York Times, Washington Post, Detroit Free Press, BBC, and the Associated Press.  Currently his research is focused on the economics of food access, nutrition and health.
