Barney Farmer is a writer, raconteur, pessimist, sceptic and aspirant public scourge from the North West of England.
His work has featured in the pages of Viz magazine for two decades. He’s two published novels, with a third on the way later this year, plus a stage adaptation of his first novel, Drunken Baker.
For me, Viz magazine has shaped my sense of humour more than, I think anything else, and I’ve been a big fan of Barney’s writing for a while. I messed up big time when we started the interview, though. I forgot to press record! So we come in just after this realisation, and Barney is sharing a story about a podcast he did with Robin Ince & Alan Moore, and the record button was not pushed. So Of course, I feel daft for making such a rookie error, but at least I’m in esteemed company.
