Esteemed listeners meet Lisa M. Ong!
Don’t let her petite frame fool you—Lisa is full of energy and passion. Standing at five feet, she brings a spark that’s contagious. And when it comes to her favorite brew, she keeps it simple with a cup of black coffee—no frills, no fuss. Much like her coffee, Lisa is all about staying genuine and getting things done, with warmth and realness at the heart of everything she does.
Lisa began her career as a CPA and self-proclaimed people pleaser but soon discovered her true gift: helping leaders transform into diamonds, empowering them to lead more inclusively and “creating equitable cultures of belonging where everyone can shine at their best.”
So, how did she pull off this epic career transformation? Not only did Lisa champion diversity, equity, inclusion, plus belonging before it was trending, but she also leaned on her deep faith to create programs that bring people together in meaningful ways.
Growing up as the only Asian girl in many rooms, Lisa knows what it’s like to feel like you don’t fit in. She’s used that experience to shape environments where people genuinely feel like they belong—whether they’re contributing to the discussion or shaping the direction.
Now, with her own company, Wishing Out Loud, Lisa is making leaders' dreams come true by teaching them how to lead with empathy. Her mantra: “Be bold, be brave, be kind, and keep wishing out loud.”
Get ready for some hilarious stories, powerful leadership insights, and straight-up DEI+Belonging real talk. Lisa’s secret sauce? Listening, learning, and leading. She proves that being small, scrappy, and fueled by black coffee is one heck of a superpower. Don’t miss this episode!

On this episode of Counsel Brew, we’re bringing you the ultimate dynamic duo—Suzy Fulton and Wei Wei Jeang. These two are like the Tina Fey and Amy Poehler of the legal world—funny, brilliant, and always one step ahead.
Suzy’s a tech genius who somehow makes nerd-speak sound sexy. She’s like that cool teacher who explains calculus using cat memes. Seriously, she’s turning tech talk into plain English and making everyone feel like they’ve got a PhD in innovation. Her go-to brew? Cappuccino, of course. Because just like her, it’s got layers, it’s rich, and it keeps you on your toes.
And then there’s Wei Wei—she’s the IP law guru you never knew you needed. Think Wonder Woman, but instead of a lasso, she’s wielding patent applications. Her sharp mind and strategic moves have her running circles around the competition. Jasmine tea is her thing, and honestly, it’s the perfect match—cool, calm, and kicking ass in the most sophisticated way possible.
For over a decade, these ladies have been out there pioneering the whole “let’s work from home and avoid pants” movement, way before it was cool. They’ve been cutting out all the unnecessary expenses—like office plants and awkward water cooler conversations—while still delivering top-notch service. And now? They’re on a mission to create the law firm of the future, where the lawyers are happy, the clients are happy, and everyone’s winning.
Together, Suzy and Wei Wei are the dynamic duo you wish you had on speed dial. Their teamwork, mentorship, and sheer awesomeness are basically friendship goals for anyone in the legal biz. So, grab your drink of choice—cappuccino, tea, whatever brings you joy—and tune in for a wild ride through their journey. Whether you’re new to the game or a legal legend, this episode is gonna leave you feeling inspired, entertained, and maybe even a little bit smarter.

Welcome to Counsel Brew!
We don’t normally start with the triple SSS segment when describing a new episode, but Caren’s will leave you speechless. Resist the urge to skip to the end!
Caren is the voice for those who can’t find their own or aren’t given the opportunity to have one. As a little girl, she defied all the constraints placed on young Asian girls and found her voice early in life, always pushing the boundaries. When Mrs. Wong told young Caren she should become a lawyer, intending it as an insult, Caren agreed it was the path she should follow and never looked back.
Caren is the Regional VP and Associate General Counsel at TIAA, where she’s led the way in policy advocacy. She believes it’s a person’s moral imperative to open the door for others, to reach back and pull them up. She embodies this through her work with the Orchid Giving Circle and the Texas Women’s Foundation Board. And if that isn’t enough for you, she’s also on the advisory board for the Dallas Mavs, the State Bar of Texas liaison to the corporate counsel section, and more. Caren has been and continues to be a seeker of justice for her parents, women and children, clients, mentees, and even those she hasn’t met. Her badassery is limitless.
Caren’s brew, you ask? She’s a fluffy latte kind of woman, and we may have convinced her to let go of her guilt about not having tried black coffee with butter. We hope you enjoy this episode!

Behind the scenes with The Honorable Judge Audrey Moorehead was even better than we imagined. A true coffee lover - her affection for a particular coffee brand is legendary & her daily brew is consumed in the interest of public safety.
While it was clear even from a young age that her destiny was to be a lawyer, she resisted several times along the way believing it would take too long and cost too much. Her career in the business world exposed her to the jet setter lifestyle with money, fancy cars and platinum credit cards. But as luck would have it, life had a different plan for her. Never shying away from a challenge, she was determined to prove two fools wrong who told her she would never get into law school, to which she responded “excuse me, I can do hard things.” It was the feather that tipped the scale for making her realize she knew she needed to be fit for herself.
She quit her job, conquered law school, and forged her path to the law and ultimately to the judiciary. Her cup is filled daily through her service on the bench presiding over Dallas County Criminal Court #3, where she is able to positively impact many lives and by giving back to the legal community as a mentor and leader.
Judge Moorehead’s not so secret method to keeping decorum and progress in her courtroom? … A magical candle that serves as inspiration, relief when needed, and a signal to those attorneys who find themselves drifting off course or enveloped in the heat of the moment.
Judge Moorehead is like no other - a true gem shining with the brilliance of a rare diamond.
We invite you to grab your favorite multi-hyphenated brew and enjoy this dynamic conversation.
