Just three chords and the truth. Or a double-minded genre, unstable in all its ways. One song praises God; the next glorifies drunkenness. One minute it's faith; the next it's fornication. And millions of Christians are singing along to both without blinking an eye. From Ella Langley to Morgan Wallen to Riley Green to Tucker Wetmore, the message is incredibly consistent: get drunk, sleep around, break hearts, ignore conviction—but talk about the big man upstairs. Just sprinkle a little Jesus on top to pull in the nominals and voila… you’ve got yourself some country music. What we want to get in today is what Eric Church calls, quote, "Country Music Jesus." And does he match the One we find in Scripture?
