If there's one thing everyone wants to know, it's how to create viral content.

I'm going to give you the top 5 tips on how to do that on TikTok.

These tops 5 tips are very similar to other social media platforms but there is some uniqueness to TikTok.

Especially right now since the platform is relatively new.

What causes virality on TikTok?

The way the TikTok algorithm works (so I've been told) is that your video goes through a series of buckets or layers.

The first layer is your followers.

A certain percentage of your followers get shown your new video in their "for you" page.

Depending on the views and interaction you get from it, your video will move to the next layer.

This then shows it to more people and the same thing happens on the next layer.

I've heard that there are 4 layers and the top 2 are manually populated, but I can't be sure that's true although it makes sense.

It's the 2nd fastest growing social network right now.

So, how do you grow your connections on LinkedIn?

I've slowed down my growth but at my peak, I grew by over 1200 connections in a single month!

First things first - your profile

The first thing you need to make sure of is to setup your profile to be an All Star.

That's a badge you get when you fill everything out.

On top of that, I recommend a few more clarifications.

First, make sure to use the same profile picture as you do on other social media platforms

Also, use the same cover photo - the format will be different, but the look and feel should be the same

Even though LinkedIn will give you the All Star badge for putting any old profile picture, you really want one that people will recognize you and that they will see elsewhere.

What is TikTok?

First, let's just explain what TikTok is in case you don't know yet.

So, TikTok is a social media platform that allows you to share, create, upload and view short videos.

They can be from 5 seconds to 60 seconds at this writting.

You can do lip-sync videos as well as just plain education videos.

Some think it's just for kids, but it certainly is not anymore.

The big influencers like Gary Vaynerchuck and Grant Cardone are all over it and definitely recommend using it to grow your audience online.

One of the great things about TikTok is it's video editor.

You can really do a lot of cool things in the TikTok video editor.

Whether you upload a video or you record one in the app.

I use an Android phone so, what I show you might be slightly different on an iPhone.

I've also noticed differences depending on your phone too and some TikTokers sometimes talk about features I don't have.

How to upload video

To upload a video to TikTok, you will want to click the little + at the bottom middle of the screen.

Next, you will tap the Upload icon on the buttom right.

This will bring up your video gallery fo you to choose a video.

Note that you can upload only up to 60 seconds, so if you choose a video longer than that, you will have the option of selecting which part you want to keep.

Also, you can select multiple shorter videos and stich them together up to 60 seconds.

Once you have uploaded the video, the editor loads up.

Results from TikTok growth hack test

A week ago, I did a TikTok test.

I followed a suggestion from Jeff Couret on TikTok

He said to post 20 videos in 1 day... with 30 minutes between them,

I probably should have taken the time to create some better videos for my audience.

Like do tips and record them all separately... put them in drafts and post them at the appointed times.

But, being the automation fool I am, I decided to take the episode that I talk about growing your business on TikTok (click to go to blog post) and split it up in 1 minute pieces.
